Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and may close on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must fulfill the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home by using a combined gross home earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined home profits will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the proper Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are learning or intend to study at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now nsfas status and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
